From Brand Guidelines to Storytelling

As you approach the entrance of nhow Rome, a large statue of a hand points toward the hotel’s front door. Classical Roman in style, the monument is completely covered in tattoos evoking the visual imagery of imperial Rome. The journey into the lobby continues beneath a backlit ceiling where statues of Roman mythological gods dissolve into graffiti and urban art. The concept of a journey through the eras of Rome — the hotel’s core identity — is conveyed through visual codes that require no further explanation.

Experiential Design in Hospitality: What It Is, What It Isn't, and Why It Matters Now

Experiential design for Hospitality is the fusion of Branding, Storytelling, and Art. It is the backbone of a hotel’s branding, spanning from physical spaces to marketing strategy. It is Storytelling because it conveys a narrative to the visitor — not necessarily a complex one, but it must say something. It is Art because it transcends the boundaries of graphic design, which is grounded in communication, to enter the realm of artistic dynamics rooted in expression.
